New Hope Missionary Baptist Church

Pastor Jacarra Michael Williams “Pastor J” was born on March 21,1988 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Clifford Mickens and the late Rosemary Williams. Pastor Williams moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the fall of 1991, following the unexpected death of his mother. He was raised by his late great grandparents Charlie and Dorothy Williams, who he affectionately called “Pops” and “Big Mama.” He  is the youngest of 20 siblings. 

He started being faithful to God and to the church at an early age. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and got baptized at the age of 4. He participated on the usher board and joined the choir at his home church, True Love Missionary Baptist Church,  under the leadership of the Late Bishop Jesse White.  

     Pastor Williams preached his first sermon from Psalms 23, entitled “The Benefits of A Good Shepherd" in May of 2004 at the New Horizon Baptist Church. He was licensed on April 26, 2006 by Pastor Keion D. Henderson (The Lighthouse Church of Houston, TX.) He was very active and dedicated to the ministry and served as Associate and Youth Pastor at New Horizon. He also taught the New Members Impact Class. He moved his membership to serve at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Mike Nickelson and served as a faithful Assistant to the Pastor. Pastor Williams’s background is very diverse as he has served as a Service and Front Officer Manager in both the Financial and also Hospitality industries.

He attended Taylor University of Fort Wayne, Indiana where he was the Vice President of Student Relations and a student mentor for incoming freshman students. Pastor Williams currently attends Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camila, Georgia (on-line) where he has obtained an Associates in Biblical Studies and also a  Bachelors of Science in Ministry and is pursuing  a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Leadership.

     On Monday, April 11, 2016 Pastor Williams was appointed and selected to serve as the seventh pastor of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Michigan City, Indiana.
